Wyoming County, Pennsylvania

Laceyville

Laceyville is a small borough of about 400 people on the west bank of the Susquehanna River in Wyoming County, Pennsylvania. It sits in the Endless Mountains region of northeastern PA, where the river bends through a wide valley between wooded ridges.

The borough was incorporated in 1869 and named after early settler Edward Lacey. Route 6, one of Pennsylvania's oldest east-west highways, passes through town. Laceyville sits at the confluence of Wyalusing Creek and the Susquehanna, with Wyalusing a few miles upriver and Tunkhannock, the county seat, about 15 miles downstream.

It is a quiet place. The kind of town where the post office, the fire hall, and the river bridge are the landmarks. Summers bring kayakers and fishermen to the Susquehanna. Winters are long and cold enough that you remember you live in the mountains.
